Although evolutionary strides were made in 2020 to help identify Ribeiro through a DNA profile, the identity of her killer remains unknown. As investigators strive to uncover the truth, the public is called upon to assist with relevant information.

Recent developments in the cold case were enabled by financial assistance from NaMus (National Missing and Unidentified Persons System), which funded the development of Ribeiro's DNA profile by the biotechnology company Othram, per the San Diego Crime Stoppers. Ribeiro, a Portuguese emigrant, was living in Newark's Portuguese community with her family. However, the mystery surrounding her death and her killer remains unresolved.

Further insights into Ribiero's life raised additional questions. According to San Diego County Crime Stoppers, she was married, a mother of two, and worked at a trailer fabrication company in Newark. Yet her connection to San Diego, and the circumstances that led to her horrific demise, continue to allude.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance to fast-track justice for Ribeiro. Key areas for input are in identifying Ribeiro's workplace in Newark, potentially revealing San Diego links, and providing any pertinent information related to her murder.
